2012: Founded by Isabel and Jessica, Sanima (formerly x-runner) started as a small project with 10 families from the Intihuatana human settlement, in Villa El Salvador, Lima.2013: Our first big allies were Grand Challenges Canada, NeSst and Swiss Re Foundation. With their support we went from a project to a social venture with daily operations. 2014: We partnered up with Separett, the world's biggest dry toilet manufacturer and gain the backup of Avina Foundation2015: We won StartUp Perú by Ministerio de Producción (Ministry of Production) which acknowledged the potential of our sanitation solution.2016: We were honored with the Innovate mérito a la innovación Prize, merits to our innovative solution for urban sanitation 2017: We won “Premio a la Creatividad Empresarial” by UPC (a Peruvian university) for our positive impact on local communities and the environment. 2018: We were an important case study for the World Bank to prove the viability of CBS as a sustainable sanitation solution for human settlements in cities. 2019: We were selected winner at the Sarphati Sanitation Awards 2019 at the Netherlands and became part of AB Inbev’s 100+ Global Accelerator in recognition of the positive impact on the lives of our users 2020: We were selected in the 3M Global Catalyst program that helped us develop our growth strategy2021: With 750+ households with our service, we decided it was time to rebrand from x-runner to Sanima in order to accelerate our impact and reach even more families.
